Abstract: This presentation will focus on the added value of Configuration Status Accounting and Baseline Auditing to a project.
More and more companies have been implementing CMMI lately, resulting in a booming interest for Software Configuration Management (SCM). As a result of this, plenty of papers have been written on the importance of having SCM, selecting the appropriate tools and on SCM strategies.
However, to reach a higher maturity level in CMMI, also Configuration Status Accounting and Baseline Auditing are required. This session will give some good practices and examples how Configuration Status Accounting and Baseline Auditing can be executed.
These examples are based on information that can be gathered from the change- and configuration management system. By applying some metrics on this information, a lot of useful information can be extracted. This information (presented in an audit and/or accounting report) can be used by project management and team leaders to manage their project in a pro-active way.
